Covid 19
These are challenging times. Parents should know that this corona virus outbreak remains a low risk for our patients. It presents like the normal coughs, colds and flu that we normally see. All of the current efforts, school closures, social distancing etc are all to slow the spread of the virus in order to protect the vulnerable. This group remains to be the elderly, frail and those with chronic illness. As usual, infants in the first few months should avoid exposure to any illness.
In the office, we have made changes in keeping with current recommendations and we continue to try and care for our patients in the best way possible. WE NO LONGER TAKE WALKINS. Our sick parade is cancelled until further notice. We are also cancelling all check up and non urgent visits. Children less than 18 months requiring vaccines can be seen, but even those can be delayed while we follow the progress of the outbreak. We have separated the office into well and sick rooms. For any patients that we need to see who are well, we will be bringing them into the office via a separate entrance (back door) directly into clean rooms without waiting in the waiting area. We will attempt to get you in and out of the office quickly.
If your child is ill or you have concerns, please call the office. Do NOT ask the front staff any medical questions. They are not giving advice. All questions and concerns will be dealt with directly with Dr Kalwani and Dr Cannitelli. Simply call the office and ask to be placed on the telephone call back list. The doctors will answer questions and give advice. If needed, we will advise you to come into the office. We will see sick patients by appointment only (NO WALKINS), so that we can control the flow and get patients in and out quickly. Testing for corona virus is not usually needed but there is a clinic at Mackenzie Health that we can refer patients to, if they fit the criteria.
We will monitor and update the website and social media with any changes.
