Back to school and daycare

We are receiving many questions about school and daycare openings.
You will find the Sick Kids Updated COVID-19 Guidance for School Reopening helpful in answering the majority of these questions.

This is a fluid situation depending on the current status of COVID-19 in our community.  A higher prevalence of the infection may change the back-to-school and daycare recommendations.

If you are concerned—please get tested. COVID-19 screening centers provide timely and accurate results for your child, and results are typically available online within 48-72 hours.

We will not be providing notes that state that your child is “okay to return to school or daycare”.  The current public health recommendations are to isolate for an appropriate period of time and return when well or a negative COVID-19 test.

The Ministry of Health recommends against requiring doctor’s notes to clear students to return to school after suspected/confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Please refer to your local public health unit or school/daycare board for further direction and their policies on returning back to school or daycare. These policies will likely change as the school year progresses.

We will be updating the website and Facebook page when the flu shot is available this fall.
